Life Safety Inspector (LSI) simplifies the process of inspecting water backflow preventers, while reducing the administrative burden of the documentation requirements.
Documentation of the inspection of water backflow preventers is a nightmare of detailed forms, with many boxes to complete and many opportunities to make a mistake. To make matters more complicated, water companies often require that you use their specific form. Very simply, if you want their water, you will use their cross connection backflow form. LSI takes care of creating this documentation for you, ensuring there are no mistakes or missed inspections, and saving your administrative staff time, effort, and stress.
LSI has a library of hundreds of water backflow forms required by water companies. If your water company changes the form or if we don’t have a water company form you need, we will add the form to LSI at no cost. Forms on LSI are much simpler to complete than cumbersome PDF fillable forms, and work much better on your phone.
LSI also has a generic backflow inspection/test form accepted by many water companies. The generic form adds additional information required by local water companies to the USC sample form. Water company name, address, and other information is automatically pre-filled in on the generic form, just by selecting the water company from a list.
Completing the inspection form as the inspection/test is being done, while trying to work from a laptop in a dirty and cramped mechanical room, is challenging. Hands are dirty and laptops are dropped. The LSI app, without the requirement of a bulky laptop or tablet, is a much better tool for the job. All you need is your phone! Then simply add a case and screen protector to keep the grease off and you’re ready to go.
Backflow forms usually require specific information that changes from year to year. With LSI, inspector backflow tester certification numbers, expiration dates, and test gauge make, model, serial numbers and calibration dates are pre-filled.
Many backflow inspection test forms also require submission when the backflow preventer fails. Later, repair of the backflow requires the original inspection test/form to then be re-submitted with the repair details. With LSI, all this information automatically carries forward throughout this process, resulting in easy and complete records right down to a list of the repair parts used and retest results.
LSI also organizes the inspection process, making the backflow preventer inspections run more smoothly, with fewer problems, and more complete, accessible, and detailed information. Backflow preventer inspections are never missed. Information from prior backflow inspections along with site-specific notes, like contact info and door codes, are carried forward. Knowing the specific backflows to be inspected and tested in advance also assures a repair kit will be on hand.
